If a cellar hand has a paper copy of the work order, the easiest way to bring up the job is to scan the barcode at the top of the work order. Scanning the barcode displays the barrel jobs for the current date. To select a job, tap it then tap Select Job.
Some jobs require you to verify the barrels. This ensures that all barrels that the winemaker selected when they created the work order are scanned by the cellar hand. As the cellar hand scans a barrel, the scanner highlights the selected barrel in the Barrels tab. If the cellar hand scans a barrel that isn’t in the list, a warning displays. It’s a good practice to scan the barrels before performing any jobs such as additions to catch any mistakes.
Some jobs, such as filling barrels, add the barrel to the job when the barrel is scanned. In this case, the list of barrels displays in the Barrels tab and will be automatically added to the job when it’s saved or completed in vintrace.
When a job’s barrels are scanned and the work completed, the cellar hand can update the details in the Location tab to include the barrel group’s location, and add notes before tapping Save.
