The barcode scanner requires a network connection to synchronize barrel details with your vintrace database. However, after you sync data to the scanner, it can work without a constant network connection. This is useful in situations such as when you’re using the scanner in your barrel caves.

To use the scanner when you’re out of wireless range:

1. Tap the Sync tab.
2. Select the Start Offline checkbox.
3. Tap Save.

Syncing Data to the Scanner

Syncing data to the scanner downloads the latest barrel details, wine details, lab results, jobs, and other data from your vintrace database.

If you have a large number of barrels, the first time you sync the scanner can take some time. The sync downloads approximately 100 barrels at a time to the scanner to ensure it doesn’t run out of memory during the process.

To sync data to the barcode scanner:

1. After updating your barcode scanning software, tap the Sync tab.
2. Select the Enable Sync Support checkbox.

3. Tap Save.
4. Tap the Login tab.
5. Tap Sync.

A message displays when the sync is complete. 

6. Tap OK.

The scanner is now ready for use. After using the scanner, be sure to sync it again so that the data from the scanner is uploaded to vintrace, and new jobs from vintrace are downloaded to the scanner.
