This functionality will be available to all accounts starting with vintrace 9.6.1b01.
The following operations can be reported in Part VI of the TTB:
- Moving bonded wines to a Distilling Material tax class
- Moving bonded wines to a Vinegar Stock tax class
- Moving non-declared wines to a Distilling Material tax class
- Moving non-declared wines to a Vinegar Stock tax class.
To ensure these operations are included in Part VI, you’ll need to do the following:
- Set up a tax class for each column in Part VI.
- Set up a custom dispatch type for each item that you want to record.
- Set up a product treatment for each reason that results in a tax class change.
Setting Up a Tax Class for Part VI
Set up a new tax class that has the TTB Part set to Part VI - Distilling Material and Vinegar Stock. In the TTB Column Ref column, be sure to enter a column reference from Part VI (i.e., a or b for distilling materials, c or d for vinegar stock).
Be sure to set up a tax class for each column in Part VI that you need to include in your TTB report.
Setting Up a Custom Dispatch Type
Set up a custom dispatch type that applies to Part VI - DM and Vinegar. You’ll also want to select the reason to record in Part VI.
The dispatch type’s reason will control how the dispatch is recorded in the TTB:
- Removed to distilled spirits plants will result in a negative value in line 6.
- Removed to other bonded wine premises will result in a negative value in line 7.
- Removed to vinegar plants will result in a negative value in line 8.
Be sure to set up a dispatch type for each reason that you want to record.
Set Up Product Treatments
Set up a product treatment that will be used when you dispatch distilling material or vinegar stock. The product treatment should change the tax class to the appropriate Part VI tax class.
Be sure to also select the appropriate reason for the tax class change:
- The Removed for Distilling reason is for Part VI tax classes with a column reference of a and b.
- The Removed to Vinegar Plant reason is for Part VI tax classes with a column reference of c and d.
- The Removed to DM or VS is for all Part VI tax classes.
Be sure to set up a product treatment for each reason that you want to record.
When the product treatment is applied to a tax paid wine:
- Only the positive event that moves the wine to Part VI will be reported.
- The tax class will be the one the wine was moved to in Part VI.
- The tax change reason will be Distilling material or vinegar stock produced since this is what resulted in the positive event. This event will be reported in Part VI, line 2 (Produced) of the TTB.
Dispatching Distilling Material or Stock Vinegar
To dispatch the distilling material or stock vinegar, record a bulk dispatch. Be sure to set the Dispatch Type to the appropriate custom dispatch type that you set up in the previous step.
The selected dispatch type’s reason will determine how the event is recorded in the TTB:
- Removed to distilled spirits plants will result in a negative value in line 6.
- Removed to other bonded wine premises will result in a negative value in line 7.
- Removed to vinegar plants will result in a negative value in line 8.
Moving Distilled Materials to a DSP In-Transit Tanker
To move distilled materials from Part VI of the TTB to a DSP in-transit tanker, record a bulk dispatch (inter-winery) operation. Be sure to select a dispatch type that moves the distilled materials to a distilled spirits plant.
Receiving Distilling Material and Vinegar Stock
To receive distilling material and vinegar stock, record a bulk intake operation. Be sure to select a tax class for Part VI.
