TTB Report Inclusions and Exclusions

This article details what is and isn’t covered by a TTB Report (5120.17) either because the TTB doesn’t consider a product as reportable, or because vintrace doesn’t support certain product classes.

Section A - Bulk Wines

5120.17 - Part I - Section A

Section A includes:

  • Bulk wines that have been declared (i.e., have a tax class and are under bond)
  • Sparkling wines, including bottles fermented (pre-tirage) and bottles produced (in tirage or disgorged prior to bottling)
  • Artificially carbonated wines (CO2 added)
  • Hard cider or non-grape (fruit) wines

vintrace only reports wines and ciders if you’ve set up their specific tax class AND declared them.

Section B - Bottled Wines

5120.17 - Part I - Section B

Section B includes all products declared and bottled during the reporting period. Classifications are the same as bulk wines and gallons used for bottling will move from Section A to Section B.

Part III - Summary of Distilled Spirits (Proof Gallons)

5120.17 - Part III

The use of distilled spirits, including the calculation of the proof gallon required on the TTB Report is fully supported by vintrace.

Part IV - Summary of Materials Received and Used

5120.17 - Part IV
Generally, the only time vintrace includes anything in this section is when one of the categories had an intake during the reporting period. If nothing was received, this section will be blank.

For details on how vintrace supports juice and concentrate classes, refer to our Juice and Concentrate Classes on the TTB Report (US) article. If you’re a cider house or produce wine from a fruit other than grapes, your intake/usage will be reported in columns E-G.

Column H and I are reserved for sugar in either granular or liquid format.

Part VI - Summary of Distilling Material and Vinegar Stock (Gallons)

This is not supported by vintrace.

Part VII - In Fermenters End of Period (Gallons)

5120.17 - Part VII

Column A shows the amount of currently undeclared juice.

Part VIII - Summary of Nonbeverage Wines (Gallons)

This is not supported by vintrace.

Part IX - Special Natural Wines and 27 CFR 24.218 Wines (Gallons) Other Special Natural Wines

Part X - Remarks

This section is not auto-populated by vintrace. You can use it to explain figures such as inventory shortages, or any activities or adjustments that fall outside normal operations.
