Tags are words that let you classify and find your wines. They can be used to track wine properties, or for administrative purposes. Tags can be used in the cellar to track wines based on taste. Tags that have been added to a wine display at the top of its Product page.
Adding Tags
You can add multiple tags to a wine.
To add a tag to a wine:
- From the Product page, click Add Tag.
A pop-up displays where you can enter the tag.
- Enter the tag. As you enter a tag, vintrace searches the existing tags.
- If the tag already exists, you can select it. Otherwise, click Add as New Tag.
You can also add tags to the wine from the mobile app.
Searching for Wines Using Tags
There are several ways to search for wines with a specific tag.
- You can use vintrace’s Quick Search.
- From the Vessels page, you can add a filter on the Tags column.
If you’re filtering the Vessels page by tags, you may also want to display the Tags column. Refer to our Customizing the Vessels Page article for details.
Tags for Blended Wines
If a wine with tags is blended and its volume weighting in the resulting wine is more than or equal to the metric merge weighting, the tags from the source wine display in the resulting blend.
For example, suppose the metric merge weighting is 0.10.
We have two wines that each have multiple tags. One of the tags (i.e., Extended soak) is common to both wines.
Suppose we blend the two wines into an empty vessel. If we transfer 100 gallons of the first wine and 900 gallons of the second wine, the blended wine will have a weighting of 0.10 of the first wine and 0.90 of the second wine.
The blended wine includes all unique tags from both source wines. If you were to add or remove tags from the blended wine, it wouldn’t affect the tags of the source wines.
